Boy Mum · Essentials
The genuinely useful, life-saving, why-did-nobody-tell-me bits that got us through the fourth trimester. Everything here is something I actually use.

When you are deep in the newborn fog, the right little tools make a genuinely massive difference. These are the things I reached for again and again: the feeding bits, the sleep savers, the recovery must-haves and the small sanity keepers. Everything here is something I love and use, and most of it lives in my Amazon store, ready to shop.

Whether you breastfeed, bottle feed or do a bit of both, the right kit makes those round-the-clock feeds so much gentler. A supportive feeding pillow, a good water bottle you can open one-handed, easy snacks within reach, and a soft muslin for every occasion. These four were in constant rotation.

Sleep, or the lack of it, runs the early days. The things that helped us settle Hudson: a swaddle he could not wriggle out of, a white noise machine, a dim, warm night light, and a simple bedside bassinet so I was not stumbling far at 3am. None of it guarantees sleep, but they stacked the odds in our favour.

The fourth trimester is your recovery too, and it matters just as much. Comfortable high-waisted everything, a peri bottle nobody warns you about but everyone needs, nourishing body oil, and gentle movement once I was cleared. Healing slowly and kindly made me a better, calmer mum.

The first outings feel huge, and the right gear makes them doable. A pram that folds easily, a roomy changing bag that does not look like a changing bag, a portable change mat, and a baby carrier for when little arms want to be close. Suddenly leaving the house felt possible again.

And then the small things that just make life easier: a baby monitor you trust, a few baskets to corral the chaos, a notes app to track feeds when your brain is mush, and the softest little outfits that make you smile on the hard days. Tiny upgrades, big difference.

Loved this? Save it, and send it to a mama who needs it.
