Everything I'm Glad I Had

I am a big believer that a small help compounds, and in time you are so thankful you made the small investment. Everything here is something I genuinely used and would recommend to a friend.

01

TENS machine

A little drug-free pain relief you can pop on for the back ache in pregnancy and for those early labour surges. Being able to take the edge off myself was so empowering.

02

Trigger massage ball

For digging into the tight spots a foam roller cannot reach. Roll it under your hips, glutes and shoulders when everything aches from carrying that extra weight.

03

Exercise & birth ball

Sit, bounce and gently open your hips. A lifesaver in late pregnancy and early labour, and honestly a comfier seat than the couch some days.

04

Foot massager

Swollen, tired, aching feet are so real by the third trimester. Ten minutes in this at the end of the day felt like pure heaven.

05

Clary sage essential oil

A calming, grounding scent for the wobbly days, and traditionally used to help prepare the body for labour. A little ritual that is just for you.

06

Anti-nausea bands

These acupressure wrist bands were one of the few things that took the edge off my all-day nausea. Cheap, drug-free, and I wore them everywhere.

07

Nasal strips

Pregnancy congestion is a thing no one warns you about. These quietly opened my nose up so I could actually sleep and breathe at night.

08

Robot vacuum

Nesting hits hard, but bending and lugging a vacuum around a big bump is the last thing you feel like. A robot vacuum that does the floors for you is honestly a gift. I set it going and it just handles it.

09

Maternity & nursing pyjamas

Soft, stretchy and made to grow with you, then fold down for feeding later. When nothing else fit, these were my daily uniform.

10

Hydralyte

On the days I could barely keep water down, these were a genuine game changer for staying hydrated. I kept a stash right by the bed.

11

Belly support band

Gentle support for your lower back and bump as baby gets heavier. It took the drag off my back on the days I was still on my feet.

12

Bio-Oil skincare oil

My skin changed so much, and a nourishing oil morning and night became my one little ritual that felt like self-care rather than survival.

13

Manual breast pump

Simple, quiet and brilliant for catching let-down or building a little stash. Good to have ready from day one, no cords or batteries needed.

14

Haakaa colostrum kit

For harvesting that liquid gold in the weeks before baby arrives. Having a little stash of colostrum ready gave me so much peace of mind.

15

Compression socks

For the swollen ankles, achy legs and the long days. These made standing and travelling so much more comfortable in the later weeks.

16

Face repair balm

Pregnancy played havoc with my skin. This gentle repairing balm calmed the dry, irritated patches on my face better than anything else.

17

Lanolips 101 ointment

The one multitasker that lived in every bag. Dry lips, cuticles, rough patches, all sorted. A tiny luxury that felt like looking after myself.

18

Stainless steel water bottle

Staying hydrated matters more than ever now. Keep this big insulated bottle by your side all day, every day.

19

Countertop ice maker

Ice chips were one of the only things I could stomach on the worst days. Having endless ice on the bench at home was weirdly life-changing.

20

Breville slow cooker

For the seasons you have zero energy to cook. Throw everything in of a morning and come home to a real meal. My future exhausted self thanked me.

You've got this, mama

Save this, send it to a pregnant friend, and tick them off one by one.
